‘Twenty seven examples of successful design coordination are presented in this book. They are drawn from nine countries, and range from international corporations such as IBM and Olivetti, through special schemes such as the British Road Signs and the Tokyo Olympics, to a small apple farmer in Sussex. “This is the first authoritative book on an important new subject. Design coordination and the corporate image is the Tiel choose by the authors to describe the activity which creates a house style, a yet goes a great deal further and deeper. It is an active which can be initiated by a corporations top management as a long-term policy.’

Last month (March 2022), I spoke to over fifty Graphic Design undergraduates about the archive and my passion for design history, after which the students had full access to items in the collection and participated in discourse amongst their peers and lecturers. As part of their critical studies unit, the students will be producing essays and content related to the impact, history and aesthetics of selected artefacts.
Helmut Schmid Typography explores the typographer’s oeuvre in its entirety. The book’s generous design allows each image to breathe, and the accompanying texts narrate Schmid’s life and career in an informative and pleasant manner.
Parallel Public is a new publication by Sara Blaylock, published by MIT Press. The book documents the East German artists pioneering work that made their country’s experimental art scene a form of (counter) public life.
