Writing
The physical collection behind Design Reviewed provides the starting point for writing about graphic design history.
Research from the archive has appeared in international design publications, online articles and an ongoing programme of independent writing published through Design Reviewed.
Design Reviewed — The Book
Matt Lamont
Forthcoming
Design Reviewed brings together material from the physical archive in a substantial printed survey of graphic design history.
Drawing upon a collection of more than 11,000 artefacts, the book brings historic magazines, books, posters and ephemera back into print, connecting familiar figures with designers and objects that deserve greater recognition.
IDEA Magazine
From 2023 to 2024, Design Reviewed was the subject of an eight-part series for the Japanese international graphic design and typography magazine IDEA.
Published within the recurring series Design Eccentric: From the World Collectors’ Room, each instalment used material from the physical archive to examine a designer, publication or aspect of graphic design history.

Design Reviewed Articles
Alongside external publishing, Design Reviewed publishes original research inspired directly by material held within the collection.
More than 200 articles explore individual designers, publications, movements and overlooked areas of graphic design history.
Subjects range from internationally recognised figures to designers whose work has rarely been documented online.
The articles also provide a place to publish translated historic material and bring information contained within rare publications to new audiences.
