Ivan Chermayeff, born in London in 1932, held numerous prestigious positions throughout his career. He served as president of the AIGA and was a member of both the Yale Committee on Art and Architecture and the Harvard University Board of Overseers Committee on Visual and Environmental Studies. For 20 years, he was a trustee of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Chermayeff also sat on the Board of Directors for the International Design Conference in Aspen (IDCA), the Board of Trustees for the New School for Social Research, and was a National Trustee of the Smithsonian Institution. Additionally, he was a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

Graphis – An inspiring magazine from cover to cover

Graphis is one of the industries most long-standing magazines. It was first published in 1944 and founded by Walter Herdeg and Walter Amstutz in Zurich, Switzerland. It was released bimonthly and was trilingual, with articles in English, French and German.

Pino Tovaglia’s Advertisements for Finmeccanica

His distinctive style echoes the artistic expressions of fellow Italian designers Giovanni Pintori and Erberto Carboni. Tovaglia's mastery in taking concepts and translating them into visually compelling narratives is evident in this selection of advertisements I have scanned from Gebrauchsgraphik, 10, 1955.

Designers and Books Series – Elizabeth Resnick

Elizabeth Resnick is a Professor Emerita, former chairperson of the Graphic Design Department, and current part-time faculty at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, Massachusetts, since 1977. She ran her own independent Boston design studio from 1973 to 1996, working with many high-profile clients and is a passionate design curator who has organized seven comprehensive design exhibitions. I interviewed Elizabeth about her journey in the field, her early influences and some of the many items in her collection.
