Gard Sivik was a Flemish and Dutch avant-garde magazine that was founded in 1955 on the initiative of the Flemish poets Gust Gils and Paul Snoek. The experimental magazine was named after the eponymous jazz café on the Stadswaag in Antwerp, and aimed to provide a forum for young poets ‘to promote avant-garde art

A Visual History of the Netherlands Children’s Charity Stamps (Kinderpostzegels)

In December 1924, the Netherlands introduced children's stamps (Kinderzegels). Over the years, these stamps have featured designs by some of the most prominent Dutch designers, including Gerard Kiljan, P. Koch, Gerrit Noordzij, Otto Treuman, Robert Deodaat Emile ‘Ootje’ Oxenaar, Dick Bruna, Jan van Toorn, and Karel Martens.

The Advertising and Design of Omnibus – The University of Braunschweig’s 1960s Publication

Omnibus was Published by the journalism working group of the Technical University of Braunschweig. A square publication measuring 290mm. The publication included features on politics, arts and culture. With advertisements carefully selected to be in keeping with the visual aesthetic. Content also included exhibition information and a fine example of concrete poetry, among artists such as Schröder-Sonnenstern and Sine Hansen.

Yūsaku Kamekura. Japanese Graphic Designer | 1915 – 1997

Yūsaku Kamekura had a long list of clients and as well as cover designs, he worked across logo and brand design, packaging, book design, and other printed matter, but he is particularly known for his poster design. His clients included Nikon, Tokyo 1964 Olympics, Meiji and TDK.

Yusaku Kamekura and his Design for Nikon

Nikon commissioned Yusaku Kamekura to design numerous posters, packaging designs and advertisements for Nikon. He used abstract forms, an impactful use of colours, along with his skilful reduction of messaging.
