The Institute of Design (ID) was founded in 1937 as the New Bauhaus by László Moholy-Nagy, after he emigrated to the U.S.
After Moholy-Nagy’s death in 1946, the school was eventually incorporated into the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in 1949.
