PM A Journal for art directors and production people was in circulation from 1934 to 1942. This Special edition is focused on The Bauhaus Tradition and the New Typography.

Features the first published account in English of the Bauhaus Typographic philosophy and the work of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Herbert Bayer, Walter Gropius, Jan Tschichold and Karel Teige.

Lester Beall
Lester Beall studied art history at the University of Chicago and worked as a freelance graphic designer in Chicago from 1927 to 1935 for clients like Mills Novelty Company and *The Chicago Tribune*. He created murals for the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair and moved to New York in 1935, staying for 16 years before relocating his business to Connecticut in 1951. Beall participated in over 100 exhibitions, including a notable solo show at the Museum of Modern Art in 1937 featuring his posters for the Rural Electrification Administration. He exhibited internationally in cities like Paris, London, and Chicago, and received numerous awards for his work. Explore related designers including Paul Rand and Ladislav Sutnar. PM (Production Manager)
PM (Production Manager) ran from 1935-1942. It retitled to AD (Art Director) in 1940 and covered commercial design and design movements and schools.
