Born Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron in Kharkow, Ukraine, in 1901. A.M. Cassandre moved to Paris in 1915. Studied at the Beaux-Arts and the Académie Julian. His first poster was published in 1923 and by 1925 was well-established as one of the leading poster artists in Europe.
