Lester Beall studied art history at the University of Chicago and worked as a freelance graphic designer in Chicago from 1927 to 1935 for clients like Mills Novelty Company and *The Chicago Tribune*. He created murals for the 1933-34 Chicago World’s Fair and moved to New York in 1935, staying for 16 years before relocating his business to Connecticut in 1951. Beall participated in over 100 exhibitions, including a notable solo show at the Museum of Modern Art in 1937 featuring his posters for the Rural Electrification Administration. He exhibited internationally in cities like Paris, London, and Chicago, and received numerous awards for his work.
