Paolo Guidotti studied at the Istituto d’Arte in Florence. From 1965 to 1970 he worked for the publisher Mondadori in Milan, returning later to design book jackets, before becoming a freelance illustrator and book designer. He became Art Director of the book division of the publisher Rizzoli in 1979. He received a mention from the Milan Art Directors’ Club in 1967 and the Mondadori ‘Oscar’ for the best book published at low cost in 1971.
