Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter and is one of the pioneers of abstract art. He was born in Moscow and graduated from Odessa Art School. He later studied law and economics at the University of Moscow. He began painting at 30 and helped establish the Museum of the Culture of Painting. He taught at the Bauhaus from 1922 until 1933 and then moved to France, where he lived for the rest of his life.
