Herb Lubalin graduated from Cooper Union in 1939 and initially designed exhibits for the New York World's Fair. After freelancing and working as an art director for various agencies, he joined Sudler and Hennessey in 1946, where he became vice president and creative director. His work earned him numerous awards from the New York Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, and AIGA.

One of my standout collected pieces is Erberto Carboni’s Crociere 1937 “Italia” Brochure, created for the Societa di Navigazione’s 1937 cruise schedule.

Beyond being mere artefacts of design, these examples encapsulate the dynamic changes Japan was undergoing during this period. The design output of this era not only served commercial purposes but also became a powerful medium for expressing these societal shifts.
