Emil Ruder apprenticed as a compositor in Zurich from 1929 to 1933 and later studied in Paris in 1938. He attended the School of Arts and Crafts in Zurich from 1941 to 1942, focusing on lettering and book design under Walter Kaech. From 1942, Ruder has taught typography at the School of Arts and Crafts in Basel, becoming head of the arts and crafts section in 1947. He has received numerous awards for his work, including prizes for the best books of the year and best posters of the year.

Yūsaku Kamekura. Japanese Graphic Designer | 1915 – 1997

Yūsaku Kamekura had a long list of clients and as well as cover designs, he worked across logo and brand design, packaging, book design, and other printed matter, but he is particularly known for his poster design. His clients included Nikon, Tokyo 1964 Olympics, Meiji and TDK.

The Structured Forms of Toshihiro Katayama

Katayama worked in several art and design disciplines from graphic design and sculpture to environmental works and sculpture. His design work features rhythms and patterns and has a resemblance to modern jazz and the studies of Josef Albers.
