‘Hans Hillmann (1925-2014) is considered the founding father of the modern German film poster. Over a period of more than two decades, the illustrator created posters that entered the canon of international design history due to their revolutionary new visual ideas. This bilingual monograph features Hilmann’s well-known posters next to unknown works works from his private archive.’

Details

Hans Hillmann studied in 1948 to 1949 at the Schule für Handwerk und Kunst in Kassel. Between 1949 and 1953 he attended the Werkakademie and remained in Kassel, working as a graphic designer until 1956, then moved to Frankfurt. From 1954 to 1974, Hillmann designed over 150 film posters.

Collected Japanese ephemera From the late 1920s to the mid-1930s, from Japan's transformative period, with its robust industrial force accompanied by an increase in consumer culture.
IBM puts a premium on functional design, forms and colours which make it far easier for the potential customer to gain an insight. In this respect the IBM methods are exemplary. The IBM already opened studios of artistic and graphic design for its German and Italian offices and a few years ago another such studio was established in Paris. Frank René Testemale was entrusted with its organisation and was appointed its business and art director.

The Best Swiss Posters Award was an annual competition, judged by a Swiss Jury. They selected a range of posters, showcasing a range of poster styles from completely typographic designs such as the work of Robert Büchler, to the illustrated posters of Donald Brun.
