Michael Engelmann

Michael Engelmann was a self-taught designer. He was born in Czechoslovakia and in 1941 he went to the United States where he took various odd jobs before he was able to devote himself to advertising design. He returned to Europe in 1949, worked as a designer for the Amsterdam magazine International Textiles, was art director of the Neue Zeitung in Munich, then graphic designer with Pirelli, Milan, and from 1953 to 1957 lived in Düsseldorf and Munich alternatively, working as a freelance artist.
