Details

Cal Swann studied typography at Leicester College of Art, earning his NDD in 1956. After completing RAF National Service, he worked in print design, advertising, and lecturing across the UK. In 1969, he published his first book, Techniques of Typography, followed by Language and Typography in 1991 after completing an MA in Applied Linguistics. From 1981-86, he served as Head of Graphic Design at Saint Martin’s School of Art, and later became Dean and Professor of Typographic Design at Liverpool Polytechnic.

Every year the 20 best posters are selected in Germany and once more brought to the attention of the public. We do not publish all the twenty posters today; instead we add some which failed to be distinguished and which nevertheless are distinguished.
Projekt 26 is a fantastic online store dedicated to vintage Polish posters, as well as operating online, both Harriet and Sylwia also run poster markets, social accounts full of the vibrant works and have a radiating passion and knowledge of the subject.
Graphic design continues to be documented and an increase in individualised documentation and curated social media accounts are furthering our knowledge of design from a worldwide historic standpoint. I would not feel complete without the collected design that spans the shelves of my archive. It’s my identity, my passion and my hobby.
